Average value of hotel bookings fall over winter

HotelsCombined yesterday released figures showing the average value of hotel bookings in Australia fell over winter in all capital cities except Sydney.

Adelaide posted a 20% decline, Perth dropped 17% and Brisbane following at 13%. Melbourne and Canberra both experienced 11% declines. Sydney bucked the trend with a 3% increase.

The results reflect the changing preferences of Australian travellers, with many regional cities falling out of the top 100 destinations and US and Europe occupying higher positions.
