How to check your pulse with your iPhone

The trend of increased smartphone and tablet use for medical purposes shows no signs of slowing down, with endless medical-focussed gadgets showcased at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Among the most popular was Masimo’s iSp02, a pulse oximeter that connects directly to most Apple i-devices.

Using a sensor that is slipped onto the ring finger, iSp02 provides instant oxygen, pulse rate and perfusion index readings on its mobile app.

The product can also be used directly by athletes and adventure enthusiasts, as well as at home, allowing people to share their vitals with their doctor to track over time.

The product is Masimo‘s first consumer offering, integrating 24 years of professional-grade medical manufacturing experience.
