It’s official: Aussies are addicted to smartphones

Google and IPSOS Research Specialists have released 2012 research data that positions Australia in the top global rankings for smartphone penetration with over 50% of Australian’s adopting the mobile technology.

What’s more, the study revealed we rarely ever leave home without the device, with 85% of use occurring on-the-go or at work. The study predicts an increase of an astounding 38% in smartphone internet usage in coming years. Whether it be for communication, information or entertainment, our reliance on smartphones is changing our daily lives at a rapid rate.

So if your phone often feels like an extension of your hand, you’re not alone. Fellow nomophobics, the fear of no reception, running out of battery, and losing sight of your phone are quickly becoming the norm.
