ACT Chief Minister and Minister for Health, Ms Katy Gallagher, today congratulated the Canberra Hospital Foundation on the installation of mobile phone chargebars across several areas of Canberra Hospital.
“The Canberra Hospital Foundation has installed seven Chargebar units throughout the hospital,” Ms Gallagher said.
“The majority of these have been funded through donations received from Dry July, a yearly fundraiser that encourages people to stop drinking alcohol for the month of July and raise funds for adult patients living with cancer,” she said.
All units are available for use by patients, families and staff and are located in areas that ensure they are easily accessible.
“The Canberra Hospital Foundation initially installed one unit in the Cafe on a trial basis. This was so successful that the additional units have been purchased,” Ms Gallagher said.
The units have been placed in our Oncology Wards, ICU, Emergency and the Cafe just to name a few locations.
“When people are in hospital, they and their visitors want to keep in contact with family and friends and keep them informed about what is happening. This is just one way we can make it easier for them to do so,” she said.
