Report shows area with highest avoidable hospital admissions

A report by The National Health Performance Authority has found that 635,000 hospital admissions in Australia were for conditions considered to be avoidable.

Some of the most common avoidable conditions included asthma, nutritionaldeficiencies, hypertension and complications from diabetes.

The highest rate of avoidable hospitalisation was in the Central & North Western Queensland Medicate Local region, with 5,342 per 100,000 people.
