Starbucks – More then a coffee fix

Starbucks have given themselves that competitive edge by offering wireless mobile charging stations to their customers, whilst getting their coffee fix. Announced last Thursday, Starbucks have decided to embrace the mobile technology evolution and become the first major retailer to implement charging stations in all stores U.S nationwide.

“We are thrilled to offer our customers that next level of convenience with wireless charging,” says Starbucks chief digital officer Adam Brotman in a news release. “Rather than hunting around for an available power outlet, they can seamlessly charge their device while enjoying their favourite food or beverage offering right in our stores.”

Nicola Arce from Tech Times explains that “the move is characteristic of Starbucks’ desire to be seen not just as a coffee store but a trend-setting coffee store that appeals to a younger tech-savvy market”. Over the last decade, the world-renowned coffee shop has always been first in market with early adoption of Free Wi-Fi in all cafes, as well as one of the first to offer mobile payments. Wireless mobile charging stations was naturally the next step for this tech savvy business to maintain their competitive edge at supplying the best customer service possible. The free mobile charging service has improved customer feedback and gives their customers even more reason to come to their venues.
