Starwood Hotels adopt Instagram in a clever way

With well over 1,000 hotels across the globe, Starwood estimates that it’s guest shoot and upload approximately 40,000 Instagram images every month.

Seeking to capitalise on this growing social media platform, Starwood has created ‘Guest Galleries‘, allowing hotel guests to geo-tag photos of their hotel’s best design features, their favourite local sites… or even their favourite cocktail at the lobby bar.

Given that each image is completely genuine and initiated by the guest, it gives Starwood’s hotels a huge tick of approval and free marketing platform for other potential guests.

The Instagram initiatives follows a growing trend of major hotel operators leveraging mobile and social platforms to deliver a more personalised and memorable service.
